It is mid June 2014 and we begin a new road trip to central Italy. A distance of 1100 km that includes a plethora of colors, flavors and tastes. The starting point is Athens, where we set off for Patra to take the ferry to Ancona. The rad trip in Italy is delightful, as we rode through nice green areas, passing through many beautiful villages.

• Sarnano
  A beautiful medieval village of three thousand inhabitants.
• Amandolla
  Amandola is a picturesque village that was built in 1248, at an altitude of 550 meters, within Simpilini National Park. It has a gorgeous traditional architecture.
• Montegallo
  A small traditional village of 600 inhabitants, which was our base for two days.
• Castelluccio
  A small Roman village of 150 inhabitants at an altitude of 1,452 meters. Here we tasted their traditional dish, lentils
• Spello
  Spell is a beautiful archaic town of 8,500 inhabitants, which in the 1st century BC became a part of the Roman Empire. Infiorata di Spello is a flower festival that is taking place this period and it’s really impressive, as almost everyone in the area gets involved in it. It is mainly a religious feast and it starts as a litany at the church.
• Assisi
  It is located just 12 km northwest of Spello and is the birthplace of St. Francis. It is a beautiful city and we stayed for about two hours to walk around the city centre.
• Collepino
  It is located 7.5 km northeast of Spello, at 600m above sea level and is regarded as one of the 20 most beautiful villages in Europe.
• Perugia
  A historical city of Italy and the capital of the homonymous province. It is located on a hill in the valley of the upper Tiber, about 140 km from Rome. It’s a big city that has more than 166.000 inhabitants and it is worth to stroll into the city center.

• Waterfall Cascata delle Marmore
  One of the largest in Italy, and the largest artificial waterfall in Europe. It was created in 271 B.C. by the Romans, as they built a channel to change the flow of the Velino river. It falls into 3 levels and the total height is 165m. Here we took a van which brought us to the starting point where we begun rafting.
